Why You Should Join Us

We welcome all students, not just mechanical engineering majors, to attend our meetings and events in order to grow professionally and socially. Our organization is a great way to meet like-minded individuals and make friends you'll likely see in your classes for years to come. We host professional events that are typically mechanical engineering focused, such as workshops and panels, as well as social events for all students, including game nights and paint nights. Join us to have fun, learn, and gain hands-on engineering experience!

Stylianos Papadonikolakis

Treasurer

My name is Stelios Papadonikolakis and I am a senior studying mechanical engineering interested in MEP and construction. I joined ASME as a freshman due to my passion for engineering and to further connect with my peers and professors. I think it’s important we foster a community on campus to help students within the major learn about possible career options.  When I was younger I enjoyed going to construction sites to watch how buildings get developed which is what inspired me to pursue engineering.

Nusrat Amy

Graphic Designer

My name is Nusrat Amy, and I’m a sophomore majoring in Engineering Science in the WISE (Women in Science and Engineering) honors program. I joined ASME because I loved the community, it has good energy and the perfect mix of fun and professional growth. After attending meetings throughout my freshman year, I decided to get more involved, and it’s been such a great experience ever since. As the Graphic Designer, I enjoy bringing a bit of creativity and flair to our flyers and posts. I’ve always been drawn to the artistic side of engineering. I want to study design-focused engineering and explore how creativity and technology can come together in things like fashion. Outside of ASME, I love art, music, my cat, and spending time with friends.

Anay Patel

Social Media Manager

Treasury Accountant

My name is Angelina Ramos and I am a sophomore in mechanical engineering. Joining ASME as the social media manager has truly been the best experience I’ve had in college thus far. I was drawn to the club because of its welcoming community, and through social media, I hope to help more people discover our club and get involved. Apart from ASME, I am also a WISE (Women in Science and Engineering) Honors College mentor, a member of the Stony Brook Red Racing Team, and a member of the Stony Brook Catholic Bible Study. During my free time I like to watch Formula One, travel, and read books.

My name is Anay Patel and I am a senior in Mechanical Engineering. I am the treasurer accountant for ASME as I saw the valuable resources and community that it brought to our campus. Being apart of an organization like this means a lot to me, as it shows what can be done for other students in order to see how they can grow and succeed. In my free time I enjoy puzzles, working out, and do 3-D modeling. I am also a research assistant in on of the engineering labs, where I put my knowledge and skills to practical use.
