Engineering Festival (E-Fest)
ASME holds an annual competition among all ASME chapters worldwide in a variety of competitions as part of Engineering Festival! We participated for the first time in the 2026 Student Design Challenge (SDC)!!
Challenge
The type and function of the robot changes every year for SDC, allowing for different learning opportunities for student teams every year. The 2025-2026 ASME E-Fest Student Design Competition challenged us to build a waste-sorting robot for an unknown course in a model city. We worked with different design and mechanisms that allowed us to perform the functions with readily available material and limited resources.
Competition Results
After competing at the EFx UCF location at the University of Central Florida, we took home 4th place in our division for the Student Design Competition. This is an incredible accomplishment for our team considering our first year participating, and we look forward to continuing for this next year!
